Abstract
This research work's development it's based on the experience of a group of indigenous women from the Wounaan community, who were displaced by the armed conflict and forced to emigrate from the department of Chocó in the Colombian Pacific to the town of Ciudad bolívar, located in Bogotá. The objective was to analyze the processes of political participation of women belonging to the Association of Victims of the Wounaan People Conflict in Bogotá (Asovicpuwobo).
In this respect, the investigation it's divided into four parts. The first part is related to the reference frame, composed of state of the art and the theoretical framework where are proposed three main categories of analysis: political participation, gender equity, and indigenous women.
The second section shows the contextualization of the social, cultural, and demographic aspects of the community Wounaan, originally from the Bajo Baudó (Chocó) and currently resides in the city of Bogotá. It also explains the colonial approach research, which guides to understand the dynamics of oppression and discrimination that women have experienced in the course of history.
The third part describes the methodological design, the technical perspective, and the tools developed for this research. Finally, in the fourth part, the theoretical framework and the analysis of information takes into account the definition of the political role of indigenous women in the Wounaan community during their history and in their new present, far from their land and linked to the association of victims of the people’s conflict Wounaan in Bogotá (Asovicpuwobo).
This investigation makes it clear that although there are government regulations to include the indigenous people in politics, they are limited in political participation, especially of indigenous women belonging to the Wounaan people. However, they have managed to form women's groups to restructure functions and roles; in this way, exercise its own government through leadership that allows building a just and equitable society through the exercise of the political role in the city of Bogotá.
