Este artículo presenta un recorrido por algunos acontecimientos relevantes en la vida de Paulo Freire, desde su infancia hasta su consolidación como uno de los más célebres pedagogos de los últimos tiempos, para luego justificar la singularidad y la universalidad de su pensamiento, resaltando el carácter político de la educación, el poder de la palabra oral y escrita, y la formación de los maestros en relación con el proceso de reflexión y liberación. Finalmente, establece una relación con las corrientes del pensamiento pedagógico contemporáneo que influenciaron la obra del pedagogo brasileño, a partir sus exponentes más relevantes: Célestin Freinet, Carl Rogers, John Dewey y Lev Vigotsky.
Abstract
This article presents a look around some important events on Paulo Freire's live, from his childhood until his consolidation as one of the most famous teachers of recent times, for justifying then the singularity and universality of his thought, highlighting the political nature of Education, the power of the spoken and written word, and the training of teachers related to the process of reflection and liberation. Finally, it establishes a relationship with the schools of contemporary pedagogical thought that influenced the work of this Brazilian educator, starting with their major exponents: Celestin Freinet, Carl Rogers, John Dewey, and Lev Vigotsky.
