Abstract
In training of physical education teachers, the game is a fundamental issue, with two perspectives: education for the game and learning through the game (Paredes, 2003). The first of them requires thinking it as a condition of human existence, and the second, thinking it as a medium in the teaching processes. In the first case, it is associated with the term ludic, while in the second, it is associated with game. However, in the speech between authors of the area and curricular guidelines of the Ministry of National Education (MEN) and in the approaches of the undergraduate students, both terms have ten-ded to be used in an analogous manner. Therefore, this article reviews the perception of some theo-rists about the game, its relevance to the curriculum guidelines and the approaches of the students, in order to identify the contributions of the game to the field of physical education, and from this, to sketch lines of academic work for the inclusion of the game in the field of training of its professionals.
