Abstract
This action-educational research aims to strengthen the public speaking of 27 students from the Complementary Training Program (PFC) of the Escuela Normal Superior Distrital María Montessori (ENSDMM). To achieve this, the Poetry Slam (PS) was implemented, and simultaneously, the Poetry Out Loud (POL) was used in a control group. The objective was to determine which of the two tools would have a greater impact on the verbal (VC) and non-verbal (NVC) communication of the students. When analyzing the results obtained through a rubric used for diagnosis, it was concluded that the PS had a significantly greater impact, compared to the POL, since it has an emotional and creative component that contributed positively to strengthening the VC and NVC of the students. This innovative approach not only improved public speaking, but also promoted creativity and emotional connection, highlighting the effectiveness of more dynamic, participatory pedagogical strategies focused on the student context.
