Abstract
The current document pretends to answer: What is the Geography learning-teaching process in elementary and secondary education? Taking into consideration the changing and highly demanding aspects of the current society, we aim to contribute in the studies and reflections this controversial topic has brought forward for consideration.
As a beginning starting point, we introduce a complete theoretical framework regarding the current methods and approaches of the learning-teaching process. Next, we characterize each one of the approaches and pedagogical trends directly related to the geography learning-teaching process in elementary and secondary education. Finally, we analyze the outstanding features and the relevant role the research process must have in our specific field.
By means of the analysis of the items contemplated in this workshop, we want not only to contribute to the reflection process of future teachers, but also to provide some guidelines to every single person and institution involved and interested in the pedagogical work. This is also an invitation to continue reading and re-reading our work in the school.
