Abstract
The present investigative work arises from a particular taste for video games and the curiosity of wanting to understand the educational objective of school textbooks. The spatio-temporal topic that the research in question addresses is the social production of space during the colonial period in Colombia. The comparative analysis of the text focuses on the study of the spatialities or spatio-temporal conceptions represented in map video games and textbooks, where criticism and reflection are made from a social critical approach to the geo-historical contents present in the development. of the materials, which allows us to investigate the notions of space present there. Likewise, an important part of the text questions the unequal relationships in social, economic, political and cultural aspects existing in the colonial city during the processes of spatial production in the first cities of Colombia. These historical-spatial facts about the colonizing process in America are represented in one way or another in the video game Age Of Empires III and the textbooks First booklet of social sciences fourth grade and First booklet of social sciences fifth grade (both materials for one of the rural school education programs in Colombia- Escuela Nueva, produced by the Ministry of National Education in 2011) and that is where the research will focus, on observing the different geographical representations that these materials present for learning about the production and constitution of the city in Colombia.
