Abstract
The aim of the article is to stimulate critical, reflective and pleasant reading in educational settings. The task of the teacher, student and researcher shouldn ́t stay far away from the enchantment and depth of certain pieces of literature. This brief and pedagogical essay is focused on analyzing the external debt (foreign debt) after the partial reading of Nobel Prize Gabriel García Márquez’sThe incredible and sad tale of innocent Erendira and her heartless grandmother. This novella allows us to come up with didactic instances to help reflection, creativity and enjoyment when working inside and outside the classroom
