Abstract
We use the example of how the gene was historically constituted as a scientific object, to raise some discussions between extreme realism and radical constructivism. It is argued that these two perspectives have problems that can be passed if we take scientific objects and subjects of knowledge as historical entities. This historicity entails the recognition of l interrelationships between historical ontology and historical epistemology. On the other hand, we analyze the didactical implications that have been produced by constructivism and realism, and the need to reconsider, based on the previous discussion, the relevance of the teaching strategies that are supported from theseperspectives.
