| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | The geographical region of the eastern valleys of Colombia has deep musical roots, as well as outstanding composers, musicians and instruments which have developed and improved to occupy a place of their own in history, and its musical forms are now recognized in overall culture. Nevertheless, some of them have begun to feel the effects of oblivion, while nobody seems to notice it. So, it is to be noticed the poor knowledge and circulation of the historic llanera tradition, whose study is nowadays neglected and narrow. The traditional transmission of the old llanero in the parrandos, where the manners and musical techniques were taught along with the repertoire, the beats and patterns, work chants of ordeño and vaquería, forms of tañío, and instruments as the sirrampla, the furruco and the bandola, are now endangered, as the new generations fail to acknowledge these traditions as their own. Thus, the gradual disappearance of the old sabedores might entail the irreparable extinction of such a rich tradition, likely to die with them. Therefore, it is necessary to cast a glance upon the whole region, in order to find out what is happening within its culture and music, what changes have occurred and which are their causes, as well as to visualize the possibilities of recuperating the tradition, and the outcome of an eventual failure in doing so. In the meanwhile, the only thing that seems to be clear is that it is there where dwells the very soul of the llanero. | eng |
