Abstract
This paper proposes a reflection about the artistic discipline in teacher training programmes. Initially it states distinctions between the object of study of the professional training in arts and that of the artistic teacher, given the fact that in the arts teaching exercise it is common to find these two professional profiles. This happens because Artistic Education, as a structured discipline, is relatively recent and teacher’s training has been subject to this discussion. Perhaps it is therefore common to find a lack of the methodological understanding that the state of art present in favour of the artistic learning in the construction of pedagogical knowledge of teachers of arts, implicating important consequences for its teaching, as the approximations that the author has had to art teachers during research and extension projects reveal. In these circumstances, she poses an invitation to promote an opening for updating and sharing of knowledge in pursuit of strengthening the discipline -whatsoever the teacher’s training has been- to make the interdisciplinary transits, that today’s world demands, possible.
