Abstract
This work is a study of interaction in the classroom as a proposal different from the traditional, changing different paradigms on the teaching and learning of mathematics. This change is only possible if the teacher's conception and interpretation of the functionality and necessity of this science goes beyond calculations and algorithms to apply rules in search of a result. For this, it is necessary to analyze the implication that the context has for both the student and the teacher, since, according to it, the meaning and meaning of mathematics is reflected. Therefore, it is required to broaden the notion of interactions both inside and outside the classroom together with the political, social, cultural and economic conditions, the relationships of the contexts and the interactions of the students and the teacher will only be possible if it arises from the needs and interests of the student, what Valero (2002) calls situational context and it is in this context, from a topic of interest to students, which in this case was the need to generate socio-environmental awareness, where knowledge originates with sense, meaning, where its necessity and functionality are seen, what Lave and Wenger (1991) call situated learning.
