Strategy for the construction and interpretation of chaotic cardiac attractors with undergraduate students of the medical school.spa
The cardiac electrical activity of a subject is recorded on an electrocardiogram. Electrocardiograms are characterized by generating records with variable heart rhythms, reaching the point of being chaotic when interpreted on shorter time scales. This is one of the reasons why they become difficult to interpret. Currently, heart rate variations are interpreted in the context of nonlinear dynamical systems and fractal geometry, generating cardiac attractors using discrete heart rate values taken from electrocardiograms in phase space. The study of cardiac attractors requires a series of strategies that allow undergraduate students of the medical school to understand them, since it is necessary to delve into the theory of dynamic systems and fractal geometry. In this way, students can have physical and mathematical elements that allow them to understand how an attractor generated in a phase space gives meaning to the behaviour of discrete heart rate values, thus providing new languages that allow the interpretation of the electrocardiogram. It is for this reason that the objective of this degree work is to implement a teaching strategy for the understanding of chaotic cardiac attractors designed in the context of nonlinear dynamic systems theory and fractal geometry in order to provide conceptual elements. that allow the interpretation of electrocardiograms.spa
